OUR PROJECTS

On July 30th, 2021, The Cheetah adopted our own cheetah, Khaleesi, from the Cheetah Conservation Foundation (CCF).

Khaleesi’s mother, Daenerys, was released by CCF in February of 2019 while continuing to be monitored by satellite collar data. In February 2021, CCF and Erindi Private Game Reserve staff noticed that there was a problem with Daenerys‘s data. Upon investigation, CCF staff discovered that Daenerys had a broken leg and needed extensive care that could only be provided at the Centre. It was at this time that animal healthcare staff noticed she was pregnant. Daenerys underwent several surgeries to heal her leg and gave birth to Khaleesi while she was in recovery. Due to the nature of Daenerys’s injuries, she could not properly take care of her cub. CCF staff stepped in and now Khaleesi is growing up as a resident cheetah at CCF’s Headquarters in Namibia.

Our financial commitment to Khaleesi, and CCF, will ensure that her needs continue to be met as she will remain a lifelong resident at the Centre. We look forward to continuing this relationship as they aim to leave the earth better than how they found it.

Welcome to The Cheetah family, Khaleesi
